Happy 4th of July to any and all celebrating! It is the anniversary of our nation’s official founding and a time to celebrate those American aspects and traditions that unite us all. Despite our many flaws, I’m confident that such a united celebration should still be possible, in some ways at the very least. And as we celebrate, we can formulate what we need to do moving forward to have our land truly live up to its ideals and guarantees of freedom and justice for all. One such way would be to stop all them carbon emissions, so current and future generations are not unjustly overburdened by climate crises and ecological disasters (not to mention the rest of the natural world).
Fun stuff! I also have a video and a podcast that have gone up on the YouTube channel which I wanted to share in case any of you missed it. First up is Ocean Warming, a Attenborough-style nature doc (much shorter though) focusing on how the vast majority of global warming is entering our oceans, plus the deleterious effects such warming and subsequent acidification is having:
Next up is a video podcast, the second episode of The 2030 Podcast, featuring South Bay local, biking enthusiast and Zero waste engineer, Tim Oey. It’s a long talk exploring personal climate action, the feasibility of transit options like biking (everywhere), and general sustainability and zero waste living:
I would like to modify the circle-step-barrel logo to make it a bit more aesthetic, but I’m not sure what to do to make it so. If anyone has any ideas, feel free to shoot them my way.
And one final note, it’s not my content, but if you’re interested in more climate video stuff, check out https://www.waterbear.com. It’s a video platform that has a bunch of professional climate and sustainability films and videos. Plus it’s free! You just need to setup an account with your email. I highly recommend the Breadown series by earthrise.
With that, I’m done for the day. Again, I hope you all have a great 4th, and if any of you have family members or pets that aren’t the biggest firework fans, I hope they can get through the night with minimal upset.
